Sandpainting

Really worth seeing.




Kseniya Simonova is a Ukrainian artist who just won Ukraine's version of "America's Got Talent." She uses a giant light box, dramatic music, imagination and "sand painting" skills to interpret Germany's invasion and occupation of Ukraine during WWII.

Very beautiful but it's too bad the act of painting itself becomes part of a pathetic roleplay meant to stress the drama underlying the picture...

I am not sure to understand clearly what you mean. But if you mean that the filming of the reaction of the audience and the framing of the scenes are pathetic, I would say "Indeed !" But the theme of this sandpainting is strongly connected to the life of people who may be in the audience of the show. So it is quite expected that their reactions are emphasized. But by saying this I am not sure I am answering to your remark...
